Creating Learning Opportunities, Acquiring New STEM Skills and Developing a Positive Future Image through Exposure to Technology
The children's program exposes the participants to new and fascinating technology in an environment that encourages curiosity and independent learning, combined with imparting learning skills. The program provides an equal opportunity for children who come from the geo-social periphery of Israel, and who do not have the opportunity to learn and be exposed to basic computer skills and to acquiring knowledge in advanced software.
The courses in the children's program are conducted in the PBL format – Project Based Learning – which turns the instructor into a guide for thinking, and which focuses on the children's areas of interest and their natural curiosity. This learning method develops research and analysis skills, curiosity, interpersonal communication and public speaking. Moreover, the program combines the teaching of STEM and enables the development of new knowledge in the belief that imparting entrepreneurial technology education already at an early age will increase the inclination of our young learners to integrate into these fields in their adult lives.
The Hi-Tech Kid Championship Program combines progressive learning and research on an environmental or social challenge. The children work on finding a solution for the challenge and at the end of the year participate in a national competition between all groups. During the process the group uses technology in order to advance their project: Doing research and networking on the internet, producing a video clip, creating online quizzes and games and finally developing a digital newspaper which presents the project products. The program promotes STEM goals, in the belief that imparting entrepreneurial technology knowledge already at an early age will increase the inclination of our young learners to integrate into these fields in their adult lives.
The Technology Day Camps of Machshava Tova operate during school vacations and provide a solution for parents seeking affordable, professional, high-quality activity for children. The target population is mainly children whose parents are unable to afford a day camp, and therefore remain idle during vacations. Every day camp focuses on learning meaningful high-quality technology content such as robotics, design, 3D and animation.
This course combines technological content from three areas: programming, animation and computer game development. In the framework of the program the children will experiment in thinking, planning and execution, and will acquire basic skills in these fields. The course exposes the participants to computer programming, in an enriching and empowering environment, and helps them develop positive attitudes toward technology and its advantages.
