Fabrication and Innovation Programs
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work. Any failed attempt is just another step forward.”
– Thomas Edison
At Machshava Tova, making dreams come true is much more than reducing the digital divide. We must take the extra step, push to the edge of technology, and actively encourage children to be curious, explorative, entrepreneurial, and innovative.
The MAKER movement's contribution to the field of education, the development of 21st-century skills, and the advancement of young people fits perfectly with Machshava Tova’s vision. We develop the area of Digital Innovation and Production, in accordance with our regular focuses.

Courses and Workshops in the Field of Digital Innovation and Production
Machshava Tova operates a variety of training and classes in Digital Innovation and Production. The curriculum promotes the development of 21st-century skills, such as creative thinking, independent learning, and problem solving, alongside the experience and development of advanced digital innovation skills. The activities enable participants to experiment with a wide range of technologies, such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and smart electronics. Additionally, participants gain experience in social entrepreneurship and in processes of product planning and design.
Community Digital Innovation Lab
In 2018, we established a unique, cutting-edge Community Digital Innovation Lab. The Lab is a space for advanced technological training, focussing on entrepreneurship and innovation. The Lab includes 3D printers, a laser cutter, a CNC machine, Arduino kits, and other advanced technological equipment.
The Lab is located in the Community Council Kiryat Menachem, a disadvantaged neighborhood in Jerusalem, next to our Community Technology Center. It operates in cooperation with local welfare and educational frameworks to improve residents’ well-being.
Machshava Tova’s center in Kiryat Menachem is a neighborhood focal point for innovation and hosts open days and enrichment workshops for neighborhood residents. Neighborhood students and residents are open to using the lab. On open days, anyone can enter and awaken their natural curiosity in the lab. Open courses and workshops on robotics and digital innovation are often offered, in addition to drop-in days, where anyone can come to the lab.
JLMakers Mobile Innovation Lab
Jerusalem's first Mobile Innovation Lab was launched in early 2020 in collaboration with Machshava Tova, the Jerusalem Foundation, our friend Della Worms, who donated in memory of her husband, Fred, and the Jerusalem Municipality.
The Mobile Innovation Lab contains a computer classroom and advanced technological tools, such as 3D printers, a laser cutting machine, a desktop plotter (cutting device), virtual reality (VR) binoculars, a 3D scanner, and robotics and electronic equipment.
The lab allows for residents from a wide range of Jerusalem's diverse neighborhoods to be introduced to digital innovation mechanisms and tools, all close to their home. This is part of our goal to use MAKING, Digital Innovation and Production processes, to build and empower communities, in cooperation with local community centers.
The Mobile Innovation Lab offers courses and training at various levels, and ultimately presents community members with meaningful opportunities to explore digital innovation products.
